Gtech Infrastructure Limited Partners with Norp Knit Industries Ltd. on 2.4 MWp Rooftop Solar Project

Gtech Infrastructure Limited has joined hands with Norp Knit Industries Ltd. for the development and implementation of a 2.4 MWp rooftop solar system at the company’s manufacturing facilities. The project will strengthen on-site renewable generation for an established export-oriented knitwear producer and add to the growing base of industrial solar capacity across Bangladesh’s garment sector.

Norp Knit Industries Ltd., based in Gazipur, is a 100% export-oriented knit garments manufacturer producing T-shirts, polo shirts, trousers, tops and related categories. The company operates as part of Pearl Global, a leading international garments group with established presence across nine countries, India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia (PT Pinnacle Apparels), Hong Kong, Guatemala, Spain, the UK and the USA. Through this association, Norp Knit is integrated into a global manufacturing and supply platform that serves major international brands, with a strong focus on quality, compliance and sustainable production practices. Its facilities are located at North Khailkur, near National University, Gazipur.

Project Significance

Once operational, the 2.4 MWp rooftop installation will provide Norp Knit with a substantial block of daytime clean electricity generated on its own premises. For export-oriented factories, this capacity contributes to lower grid dependence, improved energy cost visibility, and tangible progress on carbon and renewable energy metrics that increasingly feature in buyer questionnaires and responsible sourcing frameworks.

Industrial rooftop solar of this scale is designed for long-term performance. With proper engineering and quality components, systems are expected to generate reliably for 20–25 years or more, turning factory roof space into a productive energy asset rather than unused structural area.

The climate case is equally clear. On-site solar reduces reliance on fossil-based grid and captive power, cutting the factory’s carbon intensity in a measurable way. For a supplier integrated into global value chains, this is not only operationally useful, it is a concrete contribution to the broader effort to decarbonise manufacturing. Companies that invest in clean energy infrastructure today are positioning themselves on the right side of climate history: aligning production with the direction the world is moving, rather than waiting until external pressure leaves no alternative.

Norp Knit’s position as a supplier to global markets makes energy cost stability and environmental performance operationally relevant. Global brands continue to place greater weight on how suppliers source electricity and manage emissions. On-site solar offers a practical, measurable response that supports both commercial and compliance objectives.

Gtech Infrastructure Limited specialises in industrial clean energy solutions, covering design, EPC delivery and project development for rooftop solar systems. The company’s approach prioritises technical robustness, bankable execution and systems that perform under real industrial operating conditions in Bangladesh.

Projects such as the 2.4 MWp system at Norp Knit illustrate how mid-to-large industrial facilities can integrate meaningful renewable capacity without requiring additional land. Gtech Infrastructure Limited continues to work with manufacturing clients who see solar as infrastructure, planned, engineered and delivered to support competitiveness over the long term.
