Gtech Infrastructure Limited has partnered with NR Group for the development and implementation of a 33.85 MWp industrial rooftop solar portfolio. The collaboration represents one of the more substantial industrial solar engagements currently underway in Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector and underscores the growing role of rooftop solar as core infrastructure for large manufacturing groups.
NR Group is a leading provider of sustainable textile solutions with roots dating back to 1965. The Group comprises 23 affiliated companies across Bangladesh, India, China and Sri Lanka, and employs more than 25,000 professionals. Its operations span spinning, knitting, yarn dyeing and apparel manufacturing, with recognised scale in Vortex spinning and knitting capacity. NR Group has also been a multiple recipient of the President’s Export Trophy and National Export Trophy for its contribution to Bangladesh’s export performance.
At 33.85 MWp, the portfolio will place meaningful renewable generation capacity across NR Group’s industrial footprint. For a vertically integrated textile organisation of this scale, on-site solar supports three priorities at once: lower and more predictable energy costs, reduced exposure to grid and fuel volatility, and stronger positioning on carbon and renewable energy expectations from global buyers.
Industrial rooftop solar of this magnitude turns existing factory roofs into long-term energy assets. Once operational, systems of this scale are designed to deliver multi-decade generation with relatively predictable output, helping manufacturing groups treat a portion of their electricity requirement as controlled infrastructure rather than a fully variable operating cost.
Beyond the commercial case, projects of this scale matter for the country’s climate trajectory. Every megawatt of industrial solar that displaces grid and captive fossil generation reduces the national carbon footprint and demonstrates that Bangladesh’s manufacturing base can grow while cutting emissions. By committing capacity at this level, NR Group is helping to shift the sector toward cleaner operations and placing itself on the right side of the energy transition — not as a symbolic gesture, but through infrastructure that will generate clean power for decades.
NR Group’s emphasis on sustainable textile solutions and vertical integration aligns with the practical case for industrial solar. As export-oriented manufacturers face rising energy costs and increasing scrutiny on environmental performance, large rooftop portfolios offer a direct, measurable response.
Gtech Infrastructure Limited brings specialised capability in industrial rooftop solar design, engineering, procurement and construction. The company’s focus remains on bankable, durable systems that perform under Bangladesh operating conditions and support clients’ commercial and sustainability objectives over the full life of the asset.
The NR Group portfolio reflects a broader shift underway in Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector: solar is moving from pilot projects to multi-megawatt infrastructure decisions. Gtech Infrastructure Limited remains committed to supporting industrial clients who are ready to deploy clean energy at scale, with engineering quality, commercial clarity and long-term performance at the centre of every project.
